After spending an amazing time off in Spain and meeting my family and friends, now it is time for returning to Tokyo.

I am very lucky for having an amazing friend who took me to the airport :)

I like Madrid Airport, especially Terminal 4, which is very well connected by car and railway. Also, it is quite a wide building that can handle high amounts of travelers.

At this time, in order to fly to Japan there are two key requirements:

- Being able to legally enter Japan, wether for working, studying or visiting a close family member. Doing tourism is not a valid travel reason at the moment.

- Take a PCR test with negative result (during the 72 hours prior to the flight). Starting in September, this requirement be removed for those who received already 3 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

At the baggage counter, the airline staff will verify that travel requirements are met. If they are not met, they will most likely not allow you to board the plane.

The first step of the trip is to get to Dubai.

My flight is departing from Terminal 4-S, which is a separate building. To get there you need to take a small, automated train that runs under the airport runways.

Great feeling to see how the airport is now back to business.

Many Spaniards making the journey from Madrid to Dubai with me. It is a 7-hour flight.

Just landed in Dubai in the middle of the night. The 2 hours between flights were consumed by completing security checks and transferring to a different terminal in this huge airport.

From here, passengers from Spain are mostly replaced by Japanese people returning home :)

10-11 hours later we land at Tokyo's Narita Airport.

Narita airport is the main international hub in Tokyo, but it is located quite far away from the city center. It is even located at a different prefecture and the trip will take around 2 hours.

My experience arriving to Japan was amazing because it just took about 15-20 minutes to get out of the train, pass all controls (health, immigration and customs) and receive my baggage.

Despite living in Tokyo for the last 2 years, it is always a little shock to arrive to this city.

From here I will need to overcome jet lag (about 10 hour difference) and adapt to my good daily habits.

I'll be posting new pics from these days in Tokyo!
